Maputo, Oct. (AIM) – The First Lady of the Republic, Gueta Chapo, launched a call on Saturday (3) in the city of Chimoio, province of Manica, in the center of Mozambique, for the transformation of faith into concrete actions of love, forgiveness, respect and solidarity, considering that peace and reconciliation between Mozambicans also depend on individual and collective responsibility.

This call was made at the Cultural Festival of Prayers for Peace, Reconciliation and Tribute, where he argued that prayer should produce concrete changes in people’s lives and not be limited to words.

“Our country, Mozambique, needs peace. Mozambique needs unity. Mozambique needs love. Mozambique needs forgiveness,” said Gueta Chapo, stressing that faith must be reflected in everyday life, including how people treat their families, neighbours and members of their communities.

According to the First Lady, protecting children, respecting women, nurturing hope among young people and promoting love within families require concrete action, especially towards the most vulnerable groups, including orphans, widows and persons with disabilities.

“This is love,” she said, also calling for an end to violence against women and women.
increased attention to families and communities.

“Let’s stop mistreating women. Gentlemen, take better care of our families and our communities, because only in this way will we be respected,” he said.

Gueta Chapo also defended the need for Mozambicans to learn to live with religious, social and geographical differences, respecting citizens with different beliefs and backgrounds.

“Love those who think differently from you, love those who belong to another church, love those who belong to another mosque, love those who belong to another neighborhood, love those who belong to another district, love those who belong to another province,” he said.

The First Lady felt that Mozambique should transcend disputes between its citizens, arguing that prayers for peace should encompass both Africa and the world, since conflicts in other countries could have consequences for the country.

He also called for prayer for families, communities, religious leaders and the government, considering that peace requires a permanent attitude of responsibility and commitment.

“We are all united. Our country will have peace. We must pray constantly for the country to live in peace,” he said.

Geta Chapo invited religious leaders and participants to gather at the centre of the place for a moment of prayer for peace and reconciliation, imploring the presence of the Holy Spirit and fervent participation.
